Perlis, the name is quite unfamiliar even to Malaysian, because this is just a small place and not so happening area, as most of the area of this small state are village and the agriculture, not a modern town or city…the most people knowing this is the state that close to the Malaysia-Thailand border as it is the most northern place of Malaysia….well, in the other way round, this a really good place for you to escape from the busy city life and being closer to the nature of mother earth…stays peace and relaxing …and of cause some will say here is boring, yes, have to admit that here is really lack of the entertainment like what can get in the city. And by the way, the public transportation also quite lack at here… (well, that’s the truth) you can reach here by bus, car, or train, but no flight, the nearest airport is at Hatyai, Langkawi or at Kedah which are about 50km away or more ….
Okay, out of the above, now what we have here is:
1. Close to the mother earth beauty: you can surf in the reserve tropical jungle and hiking to really enjoy the natural jungle, breath the freshest air and fill the trip with adventure.
2. Rich of the scenery for photographing: here got a big sugar cane farm, pretty paddy field during ripening season (in Jan-Feb and August), a cave Gua Kelam and the recreation park, Tasoh Damn and the lake side resort, bird view at Wang Kelian hill side, the sunset at Kuala Perlis. well, most of the scenery are filled with “green” as the main tone that can relaxing the mind and eyes…
3. Nice weather: if u going to stay at village area like Kaki Bukit, the weather is nice, cold at night and no need to turn on the air-conditional normally is not too hot like the city’s concrete jungle
4. Nice in price and portion foods: the foods here can greet your taste up, nice thai foods like Kengsom fish, quite famous big bao and also the kari mee at Kaki Bukit, nice seafood restaurant and also ikan bakar (BBQ fish) at Kuala Perlis and some food stall and restaurant in Kangar (capital of Perlis).
5. Down to the earth and experience the village simple life style, the agriculture life, the low cost market shopping at the border town Padang Besar and Wang Kelian to shop some Thai stuff and snacks.
